Kitchen Assistant

 

HOURS

Part-Time/Non-Exempt, Monday – Friday, 24 hours/week - hours vary

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Experience in similar role or industry

Skills and Other Experience

  • Prior cleaning experience

  • Ability to carry out tasks quickly and competently

  • Maintain quality standards of work performance

  • Ability to be a team player

  • Medium activity level - lifting, bending, standing, ability to lift heavy pots and pans

  • Perform physically demanding tasks involving long hours of standing

  • Acquainted with non-profit organizations

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist chef with food preparation by preparing salads, desserts, side dishes, baked goods and other items as directed

  • Assist kitchen staff with packaging meals for home delivery, meal service and cleaning

  • Serve food maintaining portion control per federal guidelines

  • Ensure equipment is appropriately cleaned, sanitized and ready for use

  • Maintain health, sanitary and safety regulations in the kitchen and dining area

  • Responsible for cleanliness of all pans, dishes, cups, utensils used for meal service

  • Assist with cleaning of dining room as directed by chef

  • Oversee dishwashing area, ensuring area is clean and organized

  • Assist with bussing of tables in dining area when necessary

  • Other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager/Chef

 

  • Maintain satisfactory attendance as clients depend on our services

  • Abide by all personnel policies and guidelines, including all matters of confidentiality, ethical communication, and safety and risk management set forth by the Executive Director and the Eppson Center’s Board of Directors

 

RELATIONSHIPS

Supervised by the Kitchen Manager. Works closely and maintains communication with the Kitchen Manager and all other Kitchen Staff members. Communicate effectively, written and verbally, with all staff and patrons.

Part-Time 20 hours per week maximum, hours vary, non-benefitted

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • 18+ years of age

  • Must have a reliable vehicle in good working condition

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance coverage

  • Energetic and outgoing individual with a desire to form relationships with older members of our community

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk on hard surfaces for extended periods

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience providing services to seniors and clients with disabilities

  • Experience with non-profit organizations

  • Diploma/GED and/or equivalent experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Moderately heavy activity; lifting, stooping, reaching, bending, walking, carrying possibly up to 50 pounds (infrequently)

  • Ability to handle monetary transactions with honesty and integrity

  • Good communication skills, ability to multitask, ability to be a gracious help

  • Ability to carry out tasks quickly and competently

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities based upon the client’s needs and time constraints

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive and return calls from clients, communicate effectively to take detailed lists for shopping items

  • Schedule shopping trips for clients, drive to store, shop or pick up pre-purchased groceries, deliver to client’s house (no further than doorway)

  • Show honesty and integrity in handling monetary transactions

  • Provide all documentation for shopping trips – payments, lists, receipts, as well as paperwork required for payroll

  • Demonstrate respect for the rights, dignity and self-worth of all clients, their family members and co-workers

  • Provide a high quality of customer service

  • Maintain satisfactory attendance as clients depend on our services

  • Abide by all personnel policies and guidelines, including all matters of confidentiality, ethical communication, and safety and risk management set forth by the Executive Director and the Eppson Center’s Board of Directors

RELATIONSHIPS

Supervised by the Wellness Department Manager. Works closely and maintains communication with the Wellness Department Manager and other Wellness Center staff. Communicate effectively, written and verbally, with staff and patrons.
